Pamela, suddenly AI companies are coming out and saying we need to slow down and get some protections in place to prioritize safety over growth.
In a response that surprised no one, Donald Trump has made it clear he wants no guardrails on AI or the data centers that power them.
Here’s the thing, Pamela, we believe the public should have a say. And we know exactly where Americans stand:
81% believe the government is not doing enough to regulate AI.
80% of voters agree that large technology companies have too much power over local communities when deciding whether and how data centers are built.
62% of voters support data centers being powered by new wind and solar.

We’ve been gathering research, polling voters, briefing lawmakers and community leaders, tracking data center developments and utility costs, and making sure decision-makers understand what’s at stake for families.

We’re gaining real traction. Last month, we celebrated two huge wins: Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signed an executive order requiring tech companies to use more clean energy to power their data centers, protecting communities from rate hikes and pollution. And we released a memo with all the facts, figures, and polling to help any candidate understand the growing backlash to data centers and come out on the right side of history. That important work got featured in Axios. Now, believe it or not, we’re seeing Democrats and even some Republicans start coming to the forefront with important questions about the impacts of data centers in our communities.
