What the SAVE Act sponsor says about his bill in private:

He didn't want us to hear this

Pamela,

He flat-out admitted it.

On a private Zoom call with the same network that tried to help Donald Trump overturn the 2020 election, Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) — the lead sponsor of the SAVE Act — acknowledged that his bill would make it harder for married women who changed their last names to vote.

Our team has reviewed the leaked footage and determined its legitimacy. And we know that anti-voter bills like the SAVE Act aren't about election "security" or supposed fraud — they're about keeping certain people away from the ballot box.

Trump hasn't given up on ramming the SAVE Act through the Senate, and we've got to keep mobilizing against voter suppression bills around the country. Rush a donation before tonight's end-of-quarter deadline to help fight back for the freedom to vote.

Chip Roy clearly understands the damage his legislation would do, but he doesn't want us to see the consequences.

On the call, when he talked about how the SAVE Act's burdensome and costly identify-verification requirements mirrored the "hoops" his own chief of staff had to jump through, he said, "Frankly, I'm trying not to elevate the issue too much."

But with the support of pro-voter activists like you, we're spreading the word about Roy's damning remarks.

Roy said his chief of staff had to make multiple DMV trips to get her new ID — that's gas money, missed work, childcare. During an affordability crisis, the SAVE Act creates a new financial barrier to voting that falls hardest on women who are already stretched thin.

About 70 million women could be affected — all because the bill is supposedly addressing a "problem" that doesn't meaningfully exist. Noncitizen voting is already illegal and virtually nonexistent. But the SAVE Act's modern-day poll tax would create real barriers for eligible voters.

We're making the case against anti-voter bills like the SAVE Act. And the more we can get our message out, the more we can reveal the true consequences of voter suppression attempts. Chip in now to help hit our quarterly goal by midnight and help fully fund our outreach for 2026 and beyond.

In solidarity,

The Fair Fight Action Team
