Pamela,
America was founded on the idea that the people should choose the government.
But Republicans don't agree. The Republican-led Supreme Court gutted key provisions of the Voting Rights Act (VRA), and since then, our country and our Constitution has been under relentless attack by a wannabe King.
Republicans are trying to rig the upcoming midterm election with a massive voter suppression bill. And what's worse: there's a looming Supreme Court case―Callais v. Louisiana―that has the potential to gut the Voting Rights Act once and for all.
Today's crowds show that We the People will not abide that!
John Lewis dedicated his life to securing access to the ballot. He was brutally beaten in Selma, and kept on marching. Instead of Trump's plan to restrict voting only to MAGA loyalists, we should honor John Lewis by making sure EVERYONE can vote.
Demand your representatives today to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and safeguard our democracy.
We know that voter fraud is incredibly rare, but Republicans want us to focus on that while ignoring the fact there is a real crisis of eligible voters being turned away from the polls. And if Republicans get their way, they'll suppress the vote, disproportionately harming Black, brown, Native, LGBTQ+, disabled, young, and low-income voters.
The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act would not only restore, but strengthen the VRA, ensuring all voters have the access and protections to vote that they deserve.
Demand Congress take action TODAY!
In solidarity,
Mike Phelan
