Pamela, 

Now through April 21st, Virginians are heading to the polls in a special election to decide whether the state will adopt a temporary map to counterbalance some of the extreme map manipulations that have been perpetrated across the country. 

I'll explain more in a moment about the coordinated effort by anti-democracy forces who are desperately trying to hold on to power by rigging maps. But first, I'm asking you to rush a donation to help us fight back in Virginia and across the country.

Unlike in other states where politicians have rushed to manipulate maps into law, ignoring the will of their voters, Virginia is leaving it up to the people to decide.

Here's why the stakes of this special election are so high:

• So far, extremists have redrawn maps in Texas, Missouri, and North Carolina, with others in the pipeline.
• These are the same extremists who are trying to make it harder for married women, people with disabilities, communities of color, and other citizens to vote.
