With just two weeks to go until Election Day in Wisconsin, the anti-democracy disinformation machine is going at full blast. And given that Wisconsin is a key swing state, the state supreme court election carries even greater weight, since the court may ultimately decide many of the key battles over our rights and freedoms.

We're going to break down the myths and facts about this critical race — and the records of Judge Chris Taylor and her opponent, Judge Maria Lazar. But before we jump in, could you send a quick donation to Redistricting Action so we can keep shining a light on these crucial state-level elections where democracy is on the line?

Myth: This judicial election isn't as important as last year's.
Fact: Last year's Supreme Court race got a lot of attention, partly because outsiders like Elon Musk poured a stunning $20 million into the Badger State to try and buy the election. But although this election season is quieter, it's also urgent. One justice is set to leave the bench next year, and three more are up for re-election by 2030, which means the makeup of the court could have a big impact on the next presidential race and midterm elections.

Myth: Judge Maria Lazar says she'll be an independent judge, with no partisan affiliation.
Fact: Lazar would be the most extreme, right-wing member of the Court. She opposes access to abortion and has ruled in favor of conspiracy theorists trying to overturn the 2020 election.

Myth: Because of her tenure in the Wisconsin Assembly, Judge Chris Taylor has been called a "radical politician" who will "legislate from the bench."
Fact: Judge Chris Taylor has been endorsed by 160 current and former jurists in the state because of her history as a circuit and appeals court judge who is known for defending constitutional rights, reproductive rights, and advocating for equal justice under the law.

Facts matter. And this election matters to the future of Wisconsin and far beyond. That's why Redistricting Action is mobilizing every resource we have to counter election disinformation and anti-democracy power grabs. Please give today to help fuel the work that this moment demands — in Wisconsin and across the country.
