SIGN NOW: Common Cause is fighting in court to STOP Trump's legalized theft of $10 billion in taxpayer money. Add your name to join the fight >>
Pamela, Trump wants taxpayers like you to hand him $10 billion in a baseless lawsuit that's essentially "Trump v. Trump." We're taking action – in the Courts and in Congress – to stop him. [1]
It's the ultimate conflict of interest: Trump is suing the IRS for $10 billion in taxpayer money over the leak of his tax returns years ago. But the IRS is part of the executive branch – under Trump's control.
That's right. Trump is suing his own executive branch and expecting taxpayers to pay him off. And he's even bragging about it, wondering aloud how he's "supposed to work out a settlement with myself." [2]
But the good news is that we're fighting back. Common Cause is urging the court to REJECT this baseless lawsuit and shut down Trump's scheme to line his own pockets.
And we're urging Congress to use its powers to ban this sort of self-dealing before Trump can secure a settlement. Already, multiple bills are pending in Congress to shut these schemes down – but now we need to make it a higher priority for members on both sides of the aisle. Are you with us too?
Sign the Petition: We're fighting back in court to stop Trump's $10 billion taxpayer raid. Will you add your name to press the case in Congress too?
Our justice system is meant to have two sides making their best arguments. But when both sides ultimately answer to the same person, it opens the door to corruption on a massive scale.
Here's what's at stake if Trump gets away with this: he – or anyone who gains his favor – could sue the government for billions of dollars, then get paid off with our taxpayer dollars while they laugh all the way to the bank.
Pamela, Americans already worry that politicians play by a different set of rules. This case will show whether that's true or not.
Add your name now: Demand Congress ban the president from using our tax dollars to pay himself billions >>
Thanks for all you do,
