We're taking action – in the Courts and in Congress – to stop him. [1] It's the ultimate conflict of interest: Trump is suing the IRS for $10 billion in taxpayer money over the leak of his tax returns years ago. But the IRS is part of the executive branch – under Trump's control.   That's right. Trump is suing his own executive branch and expecting taxpayers to pay him off. And he's even bragging about it, wondering aloud how he's "supposed to work out a settlement with myself." [2] But the good news is that we're fighting back. Common Cause is urging the court to REJECT this baseless lawsuit and shut down Trump's scheme to line his own pockets.   And we're urging Congress to use its powers to ban this sort of self-dealing before Trump can secure a settlement.
