Pamela: The Trump administration expects you to accept that its criminal war on Iran will be measured in weeks, not days.[1] They hope you'll believe their lie that there was an imminent threat to the U.S., justifying this reckless violence that has quickly spread across 12 countries.[2] Trump wants you to accept that more U.S. servicemembers will likely die as an unavoidable cost of his war of choice.[3]
We're not having any of it. With only one-in-four people supporting Trump's illegal war, our anti-war coalition has power. Now, we must use it to stop this war before the violence spirals further and more lives are lost.
Critical votes in Congress are quickly coming up on war powers resolutions (WPR) that can stop Trump's war on Iran. Here are THREE actions you can take right now to help end the violence and build peace:
- 📲 CALL YOUR SENATORS: In a matter of hours, the Senate will vote on the Kaine-Paul WPR. Just last night, Senators Kaine and Van Hollen told an audience of thousands that these calls work — and this is the moment to get as loud as possible. Call your senators to demand they vote YES and stop war on Iran.
- ✍ WRITE YOUR REP: The House will vote on its WPR days later. This vote is going to be CLOSE, with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle poised to break from their party ranks. Tell your representative to pass a WPR and end Trump's illegal war.
- ☮️ POWER OUR WORK: Even before news broke of U.S.-Israeli strikes against Iran, our team was racing to stop this war. In the past 24 hours alone, we've briefed lawmakers and movement partners, co-hosted a mass grassroots strategy call, and mobilized tens of thousands to say: No War! But with bombs still falling, we need to take our work even further. We can only do that through the generous support of people like you. Donate now to help us keep building a movement powerful enough to stop a war.
Iranian activists have faced appalling violence from their government. Just like we saw in Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, and beyond, U.S. bombs won't help them secure their basic human rights or the safer future they deserve.
If you're horrified by the mounting loss of life, angry at the hawks and armchair generals in Washington who wage war despite the will of the people, or overwhelmed at the prospect of more senseless violence in the Middle East, you're not alone.
But don't forget: You're part of a community of hundreds of thousands strong — and we've faced moments just like this before, and won. Let's do it again.
Thank you for working for peace,
