Friend, Nothing is more important right now than defeating Donald Trump’s SAVE Act. Republicans claim this bill is about voter ID. That’s simply not true. The SAVE Act is a sweeping voter suppression bill that could purge millions of American citizens from the voter rolls and make it much harder for people to register and vote. Under the bill, states would have to hand over their voter records to federal authorities who could purge voters using a flawed system. Millions of Americans could be removed from the rolls without even being notified, only finding out when they show up to vote and are told they are no longer registered. At the same time, the SAVE Act would eliminate many of the most common ways Americans register to vote, including registration by mail, online registration, and registration when you get a driver’s license. Donald Trump has even threatened to block all legislation unless Congress passes this bill. Why? Because he believes the only way Republicans can win is by making it harder for Americans to vote. That’s unacceptable.
