We'll cut to the chase, Pamela: Debates in the House are starting today over a war powers resolution (WPR) that would stop Trump's illegal war on Iran — a war that has killed thousands in Iran and beyond, caused an economic catastrophe as gas prices soar, and is costing taxpayers more than $1 BILLION each day.
It's also a war that Trump is gearing up to escalate, with 4,500 U.S. sailors and Marines. Another 3,000 soldiers from the Army's 82nd Airborne Division were just deployed to the Middle East.
That is, unless Congress stops him. The good news? They have an opportunity to do just that tomorrow by passing Reps. Jim Himes, Gregory Meeks, and Adam Smith's WPR, H.Con.Res.40.
Here's the math: The last House WPR came down to just four votes. Now, as the costs for Trump's deadly, unpopular war continue to rise, we're seeing the kind of shifts that open a path to the majority. We can get there — but only if we can rally enough support NOW.

Trump's unauthorized war cost the U.S. $11.3 billion in just the first six days. By now, costs are estimated to have climbed towards $25 billion.[1]
What have we got for those billions? 13 dead U.S. servicemembers. More than 1,400 civilians killed in Iran alone — 15% of whom were children. Across the region hundreds of others are dead. Millions have been displaced.
We're also witnessing skyrocketing gas prices, global fuel shortages, and horrific environmental destruction. The full impact remains unclear.
As do the goals. Given all this, it's no wonder that this war is historically unpopular, including a small but growing percentage of Trump's base. Unfortunately, Congress has so far failed to represent the broad swath of the public that demands: No War!
Together, we can help change that. Of the four Democrats who voted to greenlight Trump's war earlier this month, at least one of them, Rep. Greg Landsman, has already committed to switching his vote this time around, leaving the margins razor thin.
Your voice can help hold the bipartisan coalition of "Yes" votes together and pull in the handful of votes necessary to reject Trump's illegal war.
Thank you for working for peace,
