In just the last year, they've:   handed Trump a $16 million payout to Trump on a baseless lawsuit regarding his opponent, Kamala Harris's interview on 60 Minutes. [3]   put pundit Bari Weiss in a leadership role – and stood by as she started blatantly censoring 60 Minutes stories. [4] blocked Stephen Colbert from airing an interview with U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico to placate FCC Chairman Brendan Carr. [5]   And this goes beyond just the newsroom. This merger would concentrate our nation's five major film studios to just three. [6] So not only could they control the news narrative, but also tell only the stories they care about. Movies and television shows that don't fit their chosen narrative will face the same censorship as Colbert.   The public deserves free speech and real journalism – not a handful of billionaires and their megacorporations deciding what stories get told. Because when one company controls our news and entertainment, the truth becomes whatever that company says it is. That's exactly the kind of control Trump and his allies want. We can't let it happen.
