When a brave soldier steps in unfamiliar, hostile terrain, the difference between a successful mission and a tragedy can come from a cold nose and a sharp bark.
Amid escalating conflict in the Middle East, service members are facing intense conditions and high stress environments. Military K-9 teams are deployed across the region, serving as the silent guardians of our troops.
These elite K-9 teams make incredible sacrifices as they help defend our country in dangerous conditions. About 1,600 military working dogs serve alongside our troops — identifying danger and protecting our heroes.
Today, on K-9 Veterans Day, the USO invites you to honor their bravery. Your support ensures these four-legged warriors and their handlers have the resources they need to keep saving lives.
