Dear MoveOn member,
The United States is spending $1 billion a day on a war in Iran that Congress never authorized and the American people never asked for.1
One billion dollars a day. While families are dropping their health insurance because they can't afford the premiums. While people are skipping meals. While federal workers go without paychecks.
And while Trump's billionaire cronies—Elon Musk, Larry Ellison, Peter Thiel—collect billions in Pentagon contracts and Jared Kushner raises private equity funds from Saudi Arabia in between negotiating U.S. policy in the Middle East.2 Follow the money, and what you find is breathtaking in its brazenness. And infuriating.
This is a war that has already killed over 100 children in a single elementary school strike—carried out by a U.S. Tomahawk missile fired based on outdated intelligence.3 Pete Hegseth's response was to announce that U.S. forces would deliver "death and destruction from the sky all day long."4
A government this corrupt and this reckless will be stopped only by millions of people who refuse to accept it coming together in the streets.
That is exactly what is happening on March 28—and MoveOn needs your help to make it the biggest day of protest in modern American history. MoveOn is trying to raise $175,000 today to power No Kings Day and keep building the movement that must follow it.
Will you donate $9 to MoveOn today to make March 28 impossible to ignore? (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
There is a number that every student of nonviolent resistance knows: 3.5%.
3.5% is the share of the population that researchers have found is sufficient—when actively and nonviolently engaged—to stop even the most entrenched authoritarian power.5 This is the conclusion of some of the most rigorous research ever done on how ordinary people have defeated extraordinary concentrations of power.
3.5% of the United States is roughly 11.5 million people. We are not there yet. But this has to be the year we get there. Because the families skipping meals cannot wait. Because the families being torn apart cannot wait. Because a government spending $1 billion a day on an unauthorized war while its own people go without—that cannot become normal.
March 28 is how we get there.
No Kings Day is on track to be the largest day of nonviolent protest in modern American history—already bigger than October's No Kings Day, which itself set the record. There are now more than 3,000 protests organized across this country and beyond.
Tonight, MoveOn is hosting a national mass livestream to bring people together before the day of action. Dr. Maria Stephan—co-author of "Why Civil Resistance Works: The Strategic Logic of Nonviolent Conflict"—will be there to explain what history teaches us about this moment and why nonviolent mass participation is not just the moral choice, it is the strategically correct one.
And I want to be direct with you about what makes all of this possible.
MoveOn's team has been working one-on-one with volunteer hosts organizing all No Kings events—training them, safety-planning with them, making sure every event has what it needs. At the same time, MoveOn staff are helping a local steering committee plan the national flagship event in St. Paul, Minnesota—where the national press will be watching—with a stage, a sound system, video walls, a livestream, and local artists whose work will reflect the spirit of a community that has endured so much and keeps showing up anyway.
Will you make a $9 donation right now to help us get there? (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
Every dollar goes toward making sure that when the country watches what happens in St. Paul—and in 3,000 other communities—they see something that cannot be ignored.
One billion dollars a day. That is what this government thinks your consent is worth.
Let's show them otherwise.
Thanks for all you do.
–Robert Reich

Want to support MoveOn's work? Donald Trump's authoritarian takeover intensifies every day—but history shows that authoritarian regimes crumble when just 3.5% of people rise up together in sustained resistance. That's why MoveOn is helping mobilize millions, from massive No Kings protests to our nonstop work to get ICE out of our neighborhoods. This moment demands mass, disciplined, people-powered resistance, and MoveOn can reach, train, and organize at a scale unmatched in the progressive movement. Will you chip in to fuel this urgent and critical organizing?
