Dear MoveOn member,
Senate Republican Leader John Thune just unleashed on MoveOn members, saying Democrats in Congress are demanding ICE reforms just "to satisfy MoveOn."1
If Senator Thune thinks he can bully MoveOn into silence, he's dead wrong. He f'd around. And now, he's about to find out.
Funding for DHS runs out in three days, which means the fight is about to enter its most critical phase.
MoveOn is launching billboards in Sen. Thune's backyard in South Dakota and in Washington, D.C., to call out Republicans for letting ICE into schools and churches and allowing them to run around like thugs.
It's the latest tactic in our ongoing and long-term campaign to get ICE out of our communities. But we need your help.
Will you chip in $9 to help us put up billboards in South Dakota and D.C., and to power all of MoveOn's organizing to pressure Democrats to hold the line to get ICE out of our neighborhoods? (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
President Trump and the Republicans want us scared and silent. They're counting on people being too afraid to speak up, too isolated to organize, and too overwhelmed to fight back.
That's why they attack MoveOn and other grassroots organizations.
But they're failing to silence us. In fact, their plan is backfiring.
Tens of thousands have leapt into action to protect their communities and provide mutual aid to families sheltering in place. Across the country, people everywhere are protesting. As a result, with his tail between his legs, Trump announced that he is withdrawing 20% of his federal agents from Minneapolis.2
This is what happens when millions of people refuse to stay silent.
The resistance is gaining real ground.
Now, we have just three days to make sure every Democrat in Congress knows their constituents expect them to hold firm. Three days to prove that backing down will cost them more than standing strong.
Republicans are betting Democrats will cave. Trump is counting on the pressure breaking us. And Thune thinks he can dismiss millions of people—MoveOn members like you—as irrelevant.
When you give, you won't just be powering the immediate fight in the next three days. You'll be fueling a grassroots movement to defend immigrants, take on ICE, and build a country where everyone can thrive.
If you are in a position to give, will you please chip in $9 to take on Republican attacks, pressure Democrats to hold the line, and power our sustained effort to protect our neighbors and communities? (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
Thanks for all you do.

Want to support MoveOn's work? Donald Trump's authoritarian takeover intensifies every day. But we must remember that authoritarian governments worldwide have not withstood a challenge by 3.5% or more of its people. MoveOn can reach, train, organize, and support at a scale unparalleled in the progressive movement—which we need now more than ever.
