Pamela,
First, we helped stop the SAVE Act last year, where it stalled because it didn't have enough votes to overcome a Senate filibuster.
Now, under pressure from the White House to "take over" elections, some lawmakers have come up with a scheme to pass it anyway — sneaking it into a funding bill.
This is an all-hands-on-deck moment. Millions of Americans could have their registration threatened or invalidated if this legislation passes — will you take a minute to send a message to your elected officials now and tell them to reject the anti-voter SAVE Act?
Thank you — we'll keep you posted on the latest.

Pamela,
Speaker Johnson just revealed plans to tack the SAVE Act — one of the most extreme anti-voter bills in recent history — on to funding for the Department of Homeland Security. They're going to try to pass this without needing to reach the 60-vote threshold in the Senate.
These guys think voters aren't paying attention. Let's show them they're dead wrong — send an urgent message to Congress right now and tell them to stop the SAVE Act.
If you don't remember our fight to defeat the SAVE Act last year, this bill is designed to create barriers that would make it harder for millions of Americans to vote — all in the name of a voter fraud crisis that simply doesn't exist.
Here's who could be affected:
- Married women who have changed their last names and don't have a birth certificate with their current legal name.
- Military voters who will no longer be able to use their military ID to register.
- Americans who don't have a passport, who are more likely to come from lower-income families.
- Transgender Americans who have changed their legal names.
- Rural voters who often rely on online and mail-in voter registration.
- People who have lost documents to natural disasters, and so many more.
The House narrowly passed the SAVE Act last year but the Senate didn't have the votes to take it up. With President Trump calling for the federal government to "take over" elections this week, it's no wonder that anti-democracy lawmakers are trying again.
They know they need to stoop to sneaky maneuvers to pass this unpopular bill. As Senate Majority Leader John Thune said, "Any legislative vehicle that crosses the floor could be a candidate for an amendment vote."
If the SAVE Act becomes law, millions of Americans will have a harder time casting a ballot — that's as anti-democracy as it gets. Now is an urgent time to speak out and tell your senator to vote down the SAVE Act.
More soon,
