Spotify just rejected our ad. Here’s what’s next

Yet again, another corporation has bent the knee to Trump and thrown our communities under the bus, all for profits.

Dear MoveOn member, Minutes ago, we learned that Spotify rejected MoveOn's ad calling out ICE for their illegal and violent abuses. Meanwhile, Spotify continues to proudly run Donald Trump's ads that advertise job opportunities at ICE—a rogue government agency that is descending on communities in unmarked vehicles, wearing masks and military gear, and profiling, assaulting, and kidnapping people. Yet again, another corporation has bent the knee to Trump and thrown our communities under the bus, all for profits. But we're not going down without a fight. We're doubling down and will now try to blanket the airwaves and internet with our ad on other platforms, such as YouTube, and recommitting ourselves to defending immigrant communities. Spotify is turning a blind eye to its own policies—all to comply with and profit off of a tyrant. Trump's ICE recruitment ads violate Spotify's own advertising policies, which explicitly prohibit content that incites hatred, places people at risk of harm, or attacks people based on race, ethnicity, or nationality.1 And yet, Spotify is refusing to air MoveOn's ad that criticizes ICE's abuses. Cowards. MoveOn has a long track record of holding corporations accountable, and we can do it again. But we must act now.
