Pamela, this past weekend we packed the bus to Alligator Alcatraz – every single seat filled, the aisles buzzing with songs, signs, and determination:
For nearly four months now, the Workers Circle has been organizing a weekly vigil outside of the ICE black site detention camp known as Alligator Alcatraz, deep in the Florida Everglades. Week after week, we've sung, prayed, shared stories – and made it clear that people are watching, that the families locked inside are not forgotten, and that "never again" means never again for anyone. And we're not stopping until we have justice.
To keep up the momentum, we've started renting buses each week to help more people attend these Sunday vigils. We need to keep this up again and again until we deliver the justice that our immigrant neighbors deserve.
But to keep organizing weekly buses to Alligator Alcatraz, we need your help. Will you chip in today to keep those buses full of everyday people who wouldn't otherwise be able to make the trip? Together, we are bearing witness at the gates of this detention camp. For those detained inside and for their families, we must not give up. Every dollar donated today directly powers our vigils, making sure the media and our elected officials don't look away.
DONATE But we're not just adding pressure on the ground. Alongside some of our powerful coalition allies, we've already sent nearly 70,000 messages to members of Congress from across the country – sea to sea – demanding an end to these barbaric detention centers.
These dark sites are meant to isolate and intimidate vulnerable people. Our weekly buses do the opposite: they connect, they expose, and they organize.
We'll be honest with you here: Each bus costs $2,100 to cover the rental, the fees, and accessibility needs. But what we get in return is priceless – face-to-face solidarity, media attention on a site ICE would rather keep hidden, and a growing network of people ready to fight for immigrant justice and everyone's constitutional rights.
A gift of $36 helps cover one seat on the bus. Will you pitch in $36, $72, or $108 today?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your secure donation will go through immediately:
For more than a century, the Workers Circle has stood with immigrants, workers, and communities under threat – lifting up our Jewish values of justice, dignity, and solidarity in the face of cruelty. Today, that legacy lives on every time a bus door opens and another group steps off to confront Alligator Alcatraz with courage and conscience.
Thank you for everything that you do,
The Workers Circle
