Pamela, I wanted to reach out personally to share some news with you:
I'm officially running for reelection in Minnesota. The work to make our state the best place in America to live, work, and raise a family isn't finished.
If you're with me, can I count on your personal endorsement? Knowing I have your early support in this race would mean the world to me.
I grew up in Butte, Nebraska – a town of 400 people. There were 24 kids in my high school class. In a place that small, you learn fast what it means to look out for your neighbors and to serve others.
That call to service is what left me to enlist in the Army National Guard two days after my 17th birthday. I was proud to wear this country's uniform for the next 24 years.
My drive to serve others eventually set me on a new path: teaching. Gwen and I met while teaching high school. Coaching football, directing plays, organizing dances – those years in the classroom showed us both the challenges young people face and the promise of investing in them. It was that experience that inspired me to run for governor.
The values that led me to serve in uniform and later in the classroom are the same values that guide me as your governor: help your neighbors, protect people's freedoms, leave things better than you found them.
But Pamela, I won't sugarcoat it – those values are under threat.
National GOP super PACs are already spending on billboards attacking me. Millions of dollars are flooding into Minnesota before we've even had a chance to introduce our vision for the next four years. They're doing it because they know what's at stake: our freedoms, our progress, and the example Minnesota sets for the rest of the country.
Despite the noise and the attacks, I still believe we're all in this together. And I still believe we can keep moving our state forward if we stand strong, early, and together.
That's why I'm asking you directly:
Would you please endorse my campaign for governor today? I need to know who's with me as we take on this fight.
I'll be in touch soon,
Tim Walz
