BREAKING: Thanks to your action, the House Ethics Committee has voted to release the results of its investigation into Matt Gaetz – meaning we will finally learn the truth about his alleged misuse of campaign funds, illicit drug use, and sexual misconduct. [1]
This is a major win for transparency and accountability that wouldn't have been possible without you, Pamela.
Together, we gathered over 110,000 petition signatures opposing Gaetz's nomination and demanding the release of the investigation results – building public pressure and making it clear that his extreme, anti-democracy record has no place in the Department of Justice.
That's because we knew what was at stake: in Matt Gaetz, President-elect Trump found an Attorney General nominee who was prepared to take his radical anti-voter agenda to another level.
With your help, we decisively rejected this extreme nomination and lobbied for the truth to be revealed. And now, the Ethics Committee is planning to release the full report of its investigation into Matt Gaetz after the House has finished voting for the year.
Pamela, as we prepare for Trump's inauguration, I wanted to send you this quick note because today's win is a reminder that the only way our country is going to get through this administration is with this sort of hard-hitting advocacy to hold power accountable.
We'll be counting on you in the coming weeks and months to make sure our rights and our democracy aren't taken away.
Because while this is a major victory, we can't afford to let our guard down. President-elect Trump will likely continue to push dangerous nominees who prioritize loyalty to him over the rule of law – and with your help, we'll be there every step of the way to speak up for what is right.
Thanks for all you do,
Aaron Scherb, Senior Director of Legislative Affairs
and the team at Common Cause
P.S. Common Cause members like you powered our successful campaign against Matt Gaetz's nomination – will you chip in to help us continue exposing the truth and holding the incoming Trump Administration accountable?
