Pamela, What's the Republican plan for healthcare once they take office? Cutting Medicaid, to start. According to the Washington Post, Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Republicans in Congress are targeting programs to cut to pay for their tax cuts for the rich—and they've got their eye on Medicaid.1 They also reportedly plan to cut funding for food stamps, the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and other social safety net programs that millions of people rely on for support. Nearly 80 million people are enrolled in Medicaid or CHIP, which means that health care for millions is under attack. Congress cannot allow Donald Trump and Elon Musk to raid Medicaid to pay for tax cuts for themselves, their companies, and their wealthy donors. Send a letter to Congress demanding they reject cuts to Medicaid. Congressional Republicans have said that renewing the Trump scam—which mostly benefited the ultra-wealthy and big corporations—is a top priority in the new Congress. The price tag of that tax package is set to soar as high as $4.6 trillion. It's no secret how they plan to pay for the package: by making huge cuts to programs working people depend on, including attacking healthcare. Cutting Medicaid would jeopardize the health of millions and even cost lives. But Republicans would rather threaten healthcare and other safety nets for working people than make the ultra-wealthy and corporations pay their fair share in taxes. Tell Congress: Cutting Medicaid to pay for tax cuts for the rich and corporations is unacceptable. It's up to us to fight back against Republicans and the billionaires running DOGE who want to slash important programs so they can line the pockets of their wealthy donors. Thank you for fighting for working people, not billionaires, Mike Phelan Progress America 1 Trump allies eye overhauling Medicaid, food stamps in tax legislation |
