Pamela, The 2025 Legislative Session in Florida is right around the corner, and each year before the session starts, your state representatives meet in your county as a Legislative Delegation. In these meetings, the Delegation is responsible for developing the county's legislative program including all local bills, community appropriation requests, and county and municipal legislative priorities; and serving as a liaison between the Florida Legislature and local governments and community organizations. County Legislative Delegation meetings are an opportunity for legislators to hear from their constituents about pressing issues, appropriations requests, and general business they want to see addressed in Tallahassee during the upcoming legislative session. Any member of the public is welcome to attend. With the stakes as high as they are, I wanted to ensure you know how to attend to hear what your elected representatives and others in your community are prioritizing. Delegation meetings are a great way for action-takers like you to voice concerns or input regarding things that could be improved through legislation. Public testimony during the legislative delegation meetings is welcome. To request an appearance form to be placed on the agenda or submit handouts contact the Delegation chair's office for instructions. Speaking time per person is usually in the two-to-three-minute range depending on the number of speaking requests received. Limit your remarks to 2-3 minutes and focus on one or two key points. Focus on Local Impact: Highlight how the issue or legislation affects the local community or constituency. Legislators are more likely to prioritize issues with tangible, local consequences.
