Hello Pamela,
With most votes now counted, Donald Trump is projected to be the next President of the United States. I know, that's not the result we wanted. And not the result that we needed to protect our climate.
Today, I understand if you're angry, because I am too. I understand if you're sad, because I am too. I understand if you're tired, because I am too.
But I also know this: The work we did -- together -- put climate action front and center in this election. We got a climate question onto the presidential debate stage. We got news outlets around the country talking about the climate impacts of this election and the power of climate voters.
And because of Kamala Harris, our nation and planet are better off. Throughout her time as vice president and her career in public service, she stood up for working people, fought to protect us from corporate greed, improved economic opportunity for all, and told us the truth -- even when it was hard.
We know Americans want a future where our children are free to breathe clean air and drink clean water, where we can lower energy costs while simultaneously protecting our shared environment, and where hundreds of thousands of new clean energy jobs are putting people to work in communities all over the United States.
Donald Trump has made it clear how he intends to dismantle that progress.
We need to make it equally clear that he will fail.
Can we count on you for what comes next?
I know this election season has been exhausting. I am right there with you. But this morning, I woke up and the first thing I did was talk to my daughter. And she reminded me why we do this work.
To protect her future. Because she deserves to drink clean water and breathe clean air. Because we have no other choice.
And this work is more important now than it's ever been. So today, I'm asking you to stand with us as we begin the work to protect all that we have accomplished these past four years.
Thank you for being on this team with me. You all give me so much hope.
