We are taking on the worst president in the history of the country

We will not defeat Trump unless we give people a reason to vote.

Yesterday I spoke at the California Democratic Party convention, and what I told the crowd was that we will not defeat Donald Trump unless we give millions of working people and young people a reason to vote.

I told them that we have to make it clear that:

• When the future of the planet is at stake, there is no "middle ground." We will take on the fossil fuel industry and transform our energy system.

• When this country drifts toward oligarchy, there is no "middle ground." Large profitable corporations like Amazon will pay their fair share of taxes.

• When it comes to health care, guaranteeing a woman has a right to control her own body, stopping endless wars, criminal justice and immigration reform, there is no "middle ground."

In this campaign, we are taking on the worst president in the history of the country — one who is a racist, a sexist, a homophobe, and a religious bigot.

Ours is the best campaign to defeat him. Not because of me, but because of us. I cannot do this alone:
