Sisters, Brothers, and Friends:
A lot of candidates talk a good talk about taking on the insurance companies, the drug companies, the military industrial complex, the fossil fuel industry and more.
But when it comes to actually following through in the White House, we can only count on someone who is free from the corrupting influence of big money to take on these powerful special interests.
Because the truth is, you cannot expect to transform a fundamentally corrupt system if you take its money. Period.
Yet before Sunday's FEC fundraising deadline, most of our opponents — many of whom say they like Bernie's ideas — will be hitting up millionaires and billionaires for big checks to fund their campaigns at event after event after event. And each event will bring in TONS of money. Huge.
That's not how Bernie does things. But that means we can't fall behind what our opponents are raising at these events. So our job now is to close the gap before Sunday's fundraising deadline.
Bernie won't back down to threats from the health insurance industry trying to defeat Medicare for All — because he doesn't take their money.
Bernie will stand up to the pharmaceutical industry when he cuts prescription drug prices — because he doesn't take their money.
Bernie will defeat fossil fuel companies who want to stop a Green New Deal — because he doesn't take their money.
Our victories when we are in the White House will only be possible because we will have built the campaign to transform our country.
Bernie is not courting the billionaire class before Sunday's FEC fundraising deadline like our opponents are. So it's up to us, right now.
Please make a $3 contribution to our campaign before time runs out for tomorrow's deadline.
Thank you,
Faiz Shakir
Campaign Manager
