Friends -
In just a moment I am going to ask you to make a contribution to our campaign before tonight's FEC fundraising deadline comes to an end. I hope you'll give me a chance to explain why this request is so important. Especially today.
Shortly after our FEC deadline ends at midnight, we are going to report how much money we've raised and how many contributions make up that total.
People pay close attention to our reports because this campaign is funded like none other in American political history.
But this report is especially important because some of our opponents have spent a lot of time the last few months racking up big checks at high-dollar fundraisers.
We can't afford to fall behind. So before this deadline ends at midnight, I need to ask you to do something important:
Today, virtually no piece of legislation can get passed unless it has the okay from corporate America — and that is because corporate America funds most campaigns. But not ours. I am very proud of that fact.
You should be, too.
In solidarity,
Bernie
