Date night definitely looks a little different these days

I'm writing from Miami, Florida, where, on Thursday, Kamala will take the stage for the first round of debates in this presidential primary. When we kicked off our campaign in January, these debates seemed far away -- but now, they're in just a few short days! Part of my job this week is to help keep Kamala laser-focused on the task at hand: preparing for debate night. We've got to keep our heads in the game. And right now, a big distraction is another big day that's right around the corner: FEC deadline day. We're up against our steepest fundraising goal yet: raising $1 million online before midnight on June 30. Kamala needs to stay focused on debate prep, not worrying about our major fundraising goal. Date night definitely looks a little different these days, but we are still trying to maintain our 'coupledom' by enjoying whatever time we have together -- even if it's on the trail -- and always with a sense of humor. So much of the power of this campaign is about the smaller moments. The moments that few people see -- when we're in the airport or at the coffee shop -- and people come up to Kamala to talk about how she's inspired them. Whether they're a Dreamer, a public school teacher, a working mom, or someone who loved what she's done in Senate hearings, it's amazing to see people connect with Kamala as a person and as a candidate for president. As more people get to know Kamala, they see what people she meets on the trail see every day: She's the real deal. And on Thursday, during her first debate of this crowded Democratic primary, Kamala will have a chance to introduce herself to millions of undecided voters across the country.
