Congress just bankrolled Trump’s warmongering

Imagine how many lives could be saved and improved if we spent less on weapons and war. ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏  ‌͏

For a self-proclaimed 'president of peace,' Trump's first year back in office has featured a whole lot of violence, Pamela:

  • An illegal, unauthorized bombing campaign that has pushed us to the brink of war with Venezuela.
  • Reallocating $2 BILLION from the Pentagon to militarize the southern U.S. border and terrorize immigrants across the country.
  • Deploying troops to DC, LA, Chicago, Portland, Memphis, and beyond to wage a "war from within."

It's likely to get even worse now that Congress has rubberstamped a $900 BILLION weapons and war budget.

Make no mistake: Bankrolling Trump's violence-first policies won't make anyone safer. But it will send a flood of taxpayer dollars straight to weapons contractors and wasteful Pentagon projects, while basic human needs are sidelined. That's why Win Without War is one of the few organizations tirelessly leading the charge to push lawmakers to reject Trump's violence-first policies at every possible step.

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

Last year, the average taxpayer paid Pentagon contractors $1,430. As Trump strips people of access to health care, safe housing, food assistance, and other basic social services, Congress is writing him a $900 BILLION check to pad their pockets and wage even more harm.

Next year's Pentagon budget allocates money for Trump's deeply controversial Golden Dome missile-defense project, the true costs of which remain shrouded in secrecy. It also plows billions of our taxpayer dollars to tech firms like Anduril Industries, which has secured hundreds of millions in contracts for AI-driven and autonomous surveillance and weapons technologies — despite (or maybe because) its founder is the kind of guy who poses for photos with Steve Bannon while making a white supremacist hand gesture.[1]

If you're sick and tired of your resources being wasted on warships and funding failed fighter jets, you're not alone.

For years, Win Without War has led the charge to change this broken status quo. Earlier this month, we raced to push as many lawmakers as possible to stop footing the bill for Trump's authoritarian orders and Pentagon waste with a 'NO' vote on the National Defense Authorization Act. The vote record shows the power we're building: In 2023, just 13 senators voted against authorizing Pentagon funding. A year later one more joined their ranks. This year, however, that tally grew to 20 senators willing to reject business-as-usual by saying no to more weapons and war. The same pattern is playing out in the House. In a world where every vote counts, we're making crucial headway.

It's a promising trajectory, but we know we need to go further, faster. Win Without War is determined to go forward in 2026, but we'll need you with us, Pamela.

Whether it's working alongside allies in Congress to rein in Trump's warmongering, or continuing to provide servicemembers with the resources they need to stand up to say no to illegal orders, one thing is clear: We need more resources to keep it up.

The trillions we've spent on weapons systems over the past decade could have paid to cure cancer, combat the climate crisis, or solve homelessness — but they didn't. What they did do was help make weapons contractors and billionaires incredibly rich.

Few organizations are up for challenging the enormous influence of mega weapons corporations and their lobbyists, but that's EXACTLY what we've built Win Without War to do. We're grateful to have you alongside us.

Thank you for working for peace,
The Win Without War team
