Dear MoveOn member,
This is Cheryl Zando, MoveOn's chief operating officer. I don't typically write emails to you, but I need to level with you about what's happening at MoveOn.
I'll get right to it: With fewer than 30 hours left in 2025, MoveOn is $158,247 short of our December fundraising goal.
I understand why. Between Trump's tariffs and tax breaks for the ultra wealthy at the expense of the rest of us, so many of us are hurting. Nearly 70% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.1 And then there's the raw exhaustion of stepping up to fight Trump's fascism every day for 11 straight months. It's been a long and very hard year.
But while other organizations can turn to grants and wealthy donors in moments like these, MoveOn runs on grassroots donations. That's our bread and butter, and it's what keeps us fiercely independent—not beholden to the ultra wealthy or corporate interests.
Our fundraising shortfall couldn't come at a worse time because, to meet the crisis our country is in, MoveOn has ambitious plans for early 2026, including continuing to help lead and build the pro-democracy movement. No Kings mobilizations this year included hundreds of organizations across the country, and MoveOn helped coordinate it all and train thousands of people to lead in their communities. We're already looking toward the next massive No Kings mobilization in 2026. In addition, we're continuing to fight around the clock to stop millions from losing health care and to keep costs from skyrocketing while also preparing rapid-response campaigns to stop the next wave of Trump's dangerous overreaches.
But we'll be forced to scale back our plans if we keep missing our fundraising goals.
Andra, that's why I need to ask: If you're able to give right now, will you make a year-end gift of $9 to help us close our December shortfall before midnight tomorrow, December 31?
I know not everyone is in a position to donate right now, and that's okay. But if you can chip in, your gift will directly fund the organizing, mobilization, and rapid response campaigns to make 2026 the year we truly turn the corner on Trump and MAGA and start to build a country where everyone can thrive.
Andra, I'm optimistic about what we can accomplish together in the year ahead. We've proven time and again that when we stand together, we win.
Thanks for all you do.
–Cheryl Zando, Chief Operating Officer
