Pamela,
Trump's shutdown is wreaking havoc on families and communities across the country.
Yesterday, Republicans in the Senate voted for the 13th time to continue the government shutdown. And 13 is a truly unlucky number, in this case -- energy bills are rising at twice the rate of inflation, health care costs are already skyrocketing, more than 42 million Americans who rely on SNAP food assistance benefits will go hungry as funding runs dry on November 1, and low-income families will go without critical assistance from LIHEAP to keep the heat on as the weather turns colder.
Meanwhile, Trump's press secretary, Karoline Leavitt reminded us where his priorities really are:
And to that we say, quite literally:
While Trump focuses on his vanity project, we're focused on what matters most -- making sure people can afford to live their lives.
We've made getting involved easy. We've put together a Shutdown Resource Hub to help you stay informed, share the facts, and take action to hold Trump and Republicans accountable. Check it out here.
Trump's chaos is putting our economy, safety, and future at risk -- and it's up to us to fight back. Learn what's really happening, spread the word, and demand an end to this reckless shutdown.
Thanks for standing with us,
