Pamela – we need clean energy now more than ever before. The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 has clean power subsidies that have made a difference in cities across the country. And now thanks to the "One Big Beautiful Bill," those subsidies are ending.
Tax credits for wind, solar and other clean energy projects will expire at the end of 2025, but states have the ability to allow private construction to begin in time to qualify for these subsidies. There are thousands of clean energy projects waiting to be built across the country and we need governors to clear the path forward for clean energy.
Tell your governor to clear permitting backlogs at the state, county and local level so these projects can start before the subsidies end.
Solar energy is the future―it's already cheaper than most fossil fuels. Along with wind energy and advanced batteries, it will form the backbone of America's energy infrastructure.
But thanks to greedy billionaires and fossil fuel companies, it'll be much harder to build these alternative sources of energy in the U.S. after this year. If these projects don't get started before the end of this year, they won't be built for years – even decades – to come.
Starting these construction projects as soon as possible will have a positive impact on our country, from providing more jobs, lowering energy bills, reducing pollution and more. This is why it's time for our governors to step up and get them to accelerate solar construction before these subsidies expire.
In solidarity,
Mike Phelan
