Once an extreme and rare measure, revoking citizenship will now be a top priority for this administration in all civil cases where it is possible. Defendants in civil cases don't have the right to an attorney, and there's a much lower burden of proof for them to lose their citizenship. Experts say this will create a second class of U.S. citizens. Naturalized citizens are supposed to enjoy all the same benefits as birthright citizens. Now, they face a much steeper punishment for the same crimes.
