Pamela – now that the "Big Ugly Bill" passed, Medicaid is gutted and over 17 million people have now lost their health insurance. And the lucky ones who still have insurance are paying more than ever for their premiums and services.
"Progressive" companies like Trader Joe's need to step up and actually live their values. Trader Joe's crew members are the ones on the floor, stocking shelves, keeping stores running and serving customers with care and a smile. But many of them don't even have access to affordable, quality health insurance through their employer. And now, they can find themselves without any insurance due to the devastating Medicaid cuts.
Republicans have put us in the spot where it's time for corporations like Trader Joe's to put up or shut up. Millions of people will be without health insurance due to Republicans' greed and horrible policies. This is a moment for so-called progressive companies like Trader Joe's to step up for their valued employees.
Now that our government safety net is slashed, progressive companies need to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. Tell Trader Joe's it's time for them to offer comprehensive, affordable health insurance coverage for all of its employees and live up to their ideals.
In solidarity,
Mike Phelan
