On August 6, we're coming together in Orlando to celebrate 60 years since the Voting Rights Act reshaped our democracy.
Join us for food, music, and joyful resistance as we celebrate this historic milestone and recommit to protecting every vote and every voice in Florida.
Pamela,
60 years ago, the Voting Rights Act transformed our democracy, and this August, we're celebrating that legacy and recommitting to the fight for voting rights in Florida.
Common Cause Florida is co-hosting the People Power Block Party in Orlando on August 6, 2025 from 6:30–8:30 PM, and we invite you to join us there for a celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act.
Join us for food, music and joyful resistance! We are gathering to claim our power and celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act!
RSVP now to celebrate 60 years of the Voting Rights Act!

On August 6, 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act into law, a direct response to decades of violent voter suppression and a defining moment in the civil rights movement.
While the passage of the Voting Rights Act was a landmark achievement, our work is far from over. Protections we once took for granted have been eroded and our communities continue to face barriers to cast their vote. But on August 6, we're choosing to counter fear and repression with joy and collective strength.
So we're gathering not just to celebrate, but to remind lawmakers and each other that:
WE WILL NOT GO BACK. Together we will fight for a democracy that protects every voter, not just a select few.
This is a celebration, but it's also a call to action.
Bring your friends. Bring your neighbors. Bring your joy. Let's stand up for a Florida where every voice and every vote matters.
We hope to see you on August 6th!
