We're all dealing with this week's devastating blow. Whether you're in shock, denial, anger, or numbness, know that you are a valued member of this MoveOn community, and we are in this together.

There's just a few months until Trump moves into the White House. But right now and until then, President Biden is still in office. He's still the president of the United States and still has the power to keep working and delivering for the people.

Will you sign the petition to urge President Biden to do everything in his power to protect our democracy and our freedoms before Trump takes office? We will be doing direct follow-ups with the Biden administration in the coming months, and by signing the petition, you can stay up to date and take direct action with us to make sure we get as much done as possible during that time.

President Biden, as you fulfill your democratic obligation by preparing for a peaceful transfer of power, we also ask that you pursue all available executive actions to safeguard the long-term health of our democracy.

Donald Trump's Project 2025 agenda makes clear his plans for a second presidency—to target vulnerable communities, replace civil servants with MAGA extremists, defund critical government agencies, and strip away our fundamental rights.

President Biden can take action to protect us as much as he can before Trump takes office. We need Biden to take whatever executive action possible in his final weeks as president to achieve the following:

• Protect vulnerable individuals and communities who may be targeted or left behind by a future administration
• Protect the public agencies, career civil servants, and other government institutions that serve the people of the United States, and
• Protect democracy and safeguard voting rights so the American people can continue to freely exercise their freedoms—most notably to speak, assemble, protest, and once again cast their ballots in free and fair elections

The stakes couldn't be higher. And with Trump declaring that he'll be a "dictator on day one," Biden must do everything in his power to preserve our democracy and mitigate the harm vulnerable communities may experience under Trump's authoritarian rule.
