Dear Pamela,
Common Cause Florida is prepared to defend our multi-racial democracy—our courts, our schools, our communities—because our future depends on it. Working together, we will continue to uphold the integrity of our institutions, ensure that every voice is heard, and demand accountability from those in power.
And we couldn't do it without you, Pamela. That's why I am writing to share my heartfelt thanks for everything you have done this election year to work towards a fair, inclusive, and just democracy.
We gave Election Protection our all this year – and thensome. Common Cause Florida co-leads the Florida Election Protection Coalition, which brought together over 35 organizations to help voters and stop voter suppression in the 2024 General Election. Here is a sample of what can be accomplished when we work together:
-
Over 3,800 hotline calls, voter questions and issue reports were received and responded to between October 7 and November 5, helping to ensure thousands of voters were able to cast their ballot.
-
1,337 Floridians were trained and equipped during 2024 with the tools needed to support voters, including 142 Spanish-speaking poll monitors working to increase language accessibility.
-
437 Nonpartisan Poll Monitors worked one or more shifts to support voters and report voting rights issues at polling locations across 32 counties during early voting and election day for the General Election.
Common Cause Florida members know that working together with shared commitment and action are crucial to ensuring that every voice is heard and every vote counts -- in every election.
Our work to defend democracy is more important now than ever, Pamela. And we will need you with us as we fight to defend our rights in Tallahassee and work to empower voters to protect their own and others' access to the ballot box. If you are like me and want to continue to defend democracy, join our action team>>
Our collective power and ongoing dedication to democracy will prevail. Let's keep working side by side to protect our democratic freedoms.
Thanks for all you do,
Abeni Davies, Outreach and Engagement Manager
and the team at Common Cause Florida
P.S. If you want to hear more about our recap of the General Election, join us on November 21, 2024 from 6pm to 7pm for our final Florida Democracy Seminar of the year.
