Dear MoveOn member,
Grrrrrr! I am frustrated, anxious, and ready to win, but MoveOn has a major hurdle right now, and we need your help.
After this email, we want to completely stop fundraising for our get-out-the-vote work and move 100% of our staff and energy into getting out the vote.
Here's the problem: Our get-out-the-vote program is still $85,000 short. And until we close that gap, we have to keep writing fundraisers.
What makes this extra maddening is that if our entire staff could focus completely for these final three days on organizing to turn out surge voters in battleground states who don't consistently vote, there's a real chance that we could not only prevent Donald Trump from winning but also stop a MAGA takeover of the House and Senate. Unfortunately, we can't pay for our elections program with a sense of urgency—we have to use actual money.
Believe me: I'd much rather be organizing voters right now than writing this email. Here at MoveOn, we're pretty much eating, sleeping, and breathing this election. And while we're seeing a wild toss-up, where the presidency and control of both the House and Senate is likely to come down to a few votes in a handful of battleground states, we are also seeing positive signs on the ground that we could actually win this thing if we don't take our foot off the gas.
The MAGA world is giddy right now, because they believe the writing is on the wall that they're going to win it all.1 They have been circulating heavily biased polls to push this false narrative with the goal of demoralizing Democratic voters and getting them to stay home on Election Day. Make no mistake, this is a deliberate tactic, and we need to do everything we can to stop it from impacting voters.
And in the last several days, Trump and his sycophants have started to spin out their plans to put in place the horror that is Project 2025. Elon Musk announced he'll help Trump cut "at least $2 trillion" from the federal budget—which would decimate Medicare and Social Security.2 MAGA House Speaker Mike Johnson spoke excitedly about dismantling the Affordable Care Act.3 And Trump, talking about RFK Jr., a rabid anti-vaxxer, said, "I'm going to let him go wild on health, I'm going to let him go wild on the food, I'm going to let him go wild on medicines."4
And that's not even touching on their plans to ban abortion and birth control nationwide, start mass deportations, give even more massive tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy, and so much more.
The latest polling shows every single swing state is within the margin of error.5 In this kind of situation, person-to-person voter contact can make all the difference in the world.
And that's exactly where the $85,000 we need to raise will go: reaching out to infrequent, left-leaning voters in battleground states who may sit this election out. These voters are not paying close attention to the race. But we know that if we engage them about what's at stake, they'll vote. We need to reach 1.5 million voters in the next two and a half days to hit our goal. And we think we could do it ... if it's the only thing any of us think about—and the only thing we send emails and texts about—from now until Election Day.
This is our final fundraiser. Take money off of our minds. Can you chip in $9?
Seriously: It's time for the fundraising team to shut down.
All of us on the MoveOn staff want to help get out the vote—and we're SO CLOSE to meeting our final fundraising goal, it's driving me bonkers! This will be the last fundraiser of the election season—and then our voter mobilization team will go into turbo mode.
Let's go win this election!
Thanks for all you do.
–Rahna along with Kelly, Emily, Oscar, and the rest of the (soon-to-be-dissolved-with-your-help) elections fundraising team
P.S. Once you've chipped in, we don't want you to think about fundraising anymore either. Click here to sign up for a shift calling left-leaning progressive voters in swing states! There's no better way to work off your Halloween-candy energy and anxiety about the election than helping to get out the vote.

Want to support MoveOn? The MAGA right is declaring war, and Project 2025 is their battle plan. Project 2025 threatens our rights, attacks communities of color, hurts middle- and working-class families, and undermines our democracy. But we will not back down or let Trump steamroll our nation.
Will you donate to power MoveOn's election plan, stop Trump, and ensure Project 2025 is never enacted?
