Cynthia —
Sometimes it shocks me that anyone donates to fundraising emails from political campaigns.
If you're anything like me, you open your email in the morning and it's overflowing with emails from every Senate campaign, House campaign, the presidential campaign, party committees, and organizations you know and likely many you've never heard of. Most of the time I haven't signed up for these lists.
I get why these emails happen: they are an increasingly important part of how campaigns and organizations are funded. Especially on the Democratic side. Our small dollar, online, and texting programs are light-years more productive than the GOP, and often account for a third of our monthly fundraising.
So in a sea of Democratic emails and texts, I do my best to differentiate our content, and edit every single one, including this one. The fact that you opened this email instead of deleting it and made it this far gives me hope there's a chance.
There is no winning the Senate without this race in Michigan. There is no winning the White House either. At the same time, this is going to be one of the most competitive (and expensive) races in the country. Poll after poll shows it razor tight.
Republicans know that too, that is why they'll put ridiculous amounts of money in to beat us. And since I don't accept corporate PAC money, I have to rely on the generosity of individuals like you who understand the stakes of this race.
Hopefully that's a compelling case. It's my job to make it. Because there's no winning this race without a significant response to emails like this by people like you.
