Dear Pamela, We're building an undeniable grassroots movement to win the childcare system we deserve. Organizing alongside providers, parents, and allies across the country, Community Change Action and Childcare Changemakers took the fight for affordable childcare to the streets in our 3rd annual Day Without Child Care on May 13th. This year was our biggest day of action yet: More than 1,100 childcare providers closed their doors or called out, and thousands of supporters gathered at more than 80 events across 26 states and Washington, DC. TAKE ACTION: Join the growing movement of providers, parents, and allies fighting for transformational change to our childcare system. Our demands are simple, bold, and possible. We want a fully funded 21st century childcare system, with: -
Thriving wages for every provider -
Accessible, affordable care for every family -
A system built on racial and gender justice -
An inclusive, expanded child tax credit Childcare providers make an average of just $13 per hour, meanwhile the costs of care are unaffordable in every state and are equal to college tuition in most states. This is not a sustainable system for early childhood educators, the families they serve, or our economy that depends on their work. The burden of the true cost of care — financial, emotional, and socioeconomic — has been placed on the shoulders of women, especially women of color, whose work – paid, underpaid, and unpaid – has been undervalued for centuries. We need to make our voices heard to win the childcare system we deserve, with affordable care for all families and thriving wages for all providers. Join the fight for child care today. |
