Dear Pamela, Our organizing is working. We have been fighting for an expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) as exactly the kind of direct, flexible cash proven to empower workers and families, boost the economy, and bring us closer to racial equity. The House has passed the Tax Relief for American Workers and Families Act, and now the Senate must take it over the finish line. If passed, this enhanced CTC would reach 16 million children in low-income families in its first year alone. TAKE ACTION: Tell your Senator to pass the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act to expand the CTC and provide direct, flexible cash to working families this tax season. We have proof that it works: When the Biden Administration expanded Child Tax Credit benefits in 2021, nearly 25% of parents in low-income families reported a decrease in anxiety and depression symptoms. Then Republicans got in the way of our progress. We must push our elected officials to do more to empower workers and families. The CTC empowered people to make the financial decisions that make the most sense for them. Whether parents chose to prioritize spending on child care to get to work or new school clothes for their kids — we all know best what kind of support we need to thrive. Together, we are building power to win an economy where we can all thrive. Contact your Member of Congress today and urge them to pass the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act to expand the CTC. |
