Pamela: Trump and Hegseth are scrambling to answer for an illegal bombing campaign in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific that has brought the United States to the brink of war with Venezuela, all without authorization from Congress.
At the same time, they're continuing to deploy hundreds of National Guard troops in our streets outside any emergency, to intimidate our communities and test our willingness to submit to dictatorial rule.
They must be stopped. Fortunately, in just a matter of days, Congress has a chance to push back in a powerful way.
The House will vote on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) as soon as tomorrow, and the Senate is expected to follow suit next week. This must-pass bill would set a $900 BILLION budget for the Pentagon, which is currently overseeing this campaign of extrajudicial killings in Latin America — strikes that amount to murder.
We need lawmakers to reject Trump's violence at every possible step. Right now, that looks like refusing to foot the bill for Trump's authoritarian orders with a 'NO' vote on the NDAA. One of the surefire ways they'll be compelled to do just that? Hearing from droves of constituents, like you.

Trump's weaponization of our military isn't just being felt beyond our borders. Months after ordering 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to suppress protests in Los Angeles, Trump deployed National Guard troops to DC, Memphis, and Chicago in an unprecedented federal takeover — even amidst rulings that his Los Angeles deployments broke the law.
Every year without fail, Congress passes the NDAA. And every year without fail, this bill puts profits over people and is a massive windfall for weapons contractors like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon.
If you've found yourself wishing for a better world — decent healthcare, better schools, good jobs, clean air, safer streets, and more — you cannot stay silent while Congress signs off on hundreds of billions to keep the war machine humming while our communities are militarized and struggling.
Communities at home and abroad are less safe because of Trump's violence-first policies. But the best way to stop an authoritarian who's deploying the power of the Pentagon to advance his political agenda? Stem the flow of funding that makes this all possible.
Blocking the NDAA presents Congress with a golden opportunity to do just that. It's an opportunity they can't afford to let pass by, which is why constituents like you, Pamela, have a role to play in building a congressional firewall strong enough to reject the NDAA.
Thank you for working for peace,
The Win Without War team
