Pamela
Kristi Noem and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have abandoned their duties to keep people safe. It's a pattern of flagrant disregard for human life.
In fact, Trump and Noem have worked together to gut FEMA funding, mass fire staff, slash our emergency disaster preparedness services, and redirect millions of taxpayer dollars from FEMA to ICE -- it's the law enforcement agency with the highest funding, an $85 billion budget paid for by us, the taxpayers.
Pamela, send an email to Congress now to tell your lawmakers where you stand:
Instead of helping communities prepare for the fatal Winter Storm Fern last week, making sure families had the food and heat they'd need to get through unscathed, Trump and Noem decided to ignore the clear and present danger. They left people without power and heat. And at least 48 people died.
Let's be clear: This was not inevitable. Rather than look out for Americans' basic needs, Noem decided to prioritize sending ICE out to kidnap children, murder our neighbors, and terrorize entire communities. Noem's DHS is failing on every front.
The bottom line is this: Kristi Noem must be impeached. We should be prioritizing FEMA funding, not ICE's blatant cruelty. Representative Mike Haridopolos, Senator Rick Scott, and Senator Ashley Moody need to hear from you. Send an email now. We've already drafted an email that you can send directly to your lawmakers, all you need to do is share your zip code so we know it gets to the correct offices.
None of this should be happening, and none of it is acceptable. This is a crisis of leadership, and it must end.
If you're feeling outraged, afraid, or even numb to the chaos of these times, you're not alone. It's critical to make our voices heard now, but please also take a moment for yourself today to breathe and rest as we gear up for the fight ahead.
Thank you for standing up for our communities,
