Friend, global humanitarian aid cuts have a devastating impact on existing crises — exacerbating the long-term effects of hunger, war, extreme weather and poverty. Health clinics have closed. Vaccination campaigns have stalled. Children have been forced out of school. Families have faced impossible choices. And for the first time in years, progress on child mortality appears to be stalling. Because of these cuts: - In Tanzania, over 50,000 children have had their education disrupted or completely suspended.
- In Niger, 1.1 million children stopped receiving lifesaving health services.
- In Colombia, 6,000 children no longer have access to food, safe environments to learn and protection from recruitment to organized crime.
- In Northeast Syria, 7,500 children under 5 and 4,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women did not receive nutrition support.
With the support of our generous donors, Save the Children has been able to respond. Our teams have established child-friendly spaces to keep children safe and learning, supported clinics to keep health services going and delivered vital aid to ensure newborns survive and thrive. Our vital sustainer community, Team Tomorrow, helps us meet the immediate and ongoing needs of children, families and communities in 113 countries despite these devastating funding cuts. Consistent, reliable support from Team Tomorrow members ensures we can respond to emergencies immediately – and remain as long as children need our support. You can start a monthly gift today to help us reach more children in crisis. |
