Pamela, my home state of North Carolina is no stranger to Republican-led attacks on voting rights — but their latest move might be the most brazen yet.
Jefferson Griffin, who ran for the state Supreme Court and lost by a few hundred votes, is now asking that same court to throw out over 60,000 ballots. That's right — he's demanding the judges reverse an election he lost and install him as the winner.
Even worse, Griffin and his Republican allies have enough power on the court to make this disgraceful plan a reality. The only way to stop them is by building enough public outrage to force them to back down.
That's why Common Cause North Carolina is launching a rapid response campaign, including billboards across the state, to expose this anti-democratic scheme. The 60,000 voters Griffin wants to silence are real people with real stories, and we know North Carolinians won't stand by as their voices are taken away.
Here's where we need your help, Pamela. Last year, we spent hundreds of thousands of dollars protecting voters during the 2024 election, which was held under a harsh new anti-voter law. We made a huge difference, but that effort depleted our reserves.
Without your support, this emergency campaign will jeopardize our plans for 2025. And if Griffin and his allies succeed, their strategy to overturn elections could spread to other states, threatening democracy nationwide.
We're ready to fight back with billboards, TV ads, and a massive public pressure campaign to protect these 60,000 voters and stop this election from being stolen. But we can't do it without you.
Will you rush an emergency donation to support Common Cause North Carolina's efforts today?
