Chairwoman Marjorie Taylor Greene?!

Marjorie Taylor Greene outdid herself in her new campaign video. After complaining that Nancy Pelosi is "sneaking the Green New Deal into the $3.5 trillion budget," she uses a massive .50-caliber sniper rifle to blow up a Toyota Prius with the word "socialism" emblazoned across it.

Dear MoveOn member,

Marjorie Taylor Greene outdid herself in her new campaign video. After complaining that Nancy Pelosi is "sneaking the Green New Deal into the $3.5 trillion budget," she uses a massive .50-caliber sniper rifle to blow up a Toyota Prius with the word "socialism" emblazoned across it.1

This is from a member of Congress.

And yet her Republican Party is heavily favored to win back the House next year.2

That means that Marjorie Taylor Greene would help set the agenda for our country and could even chair a subcommittee that has subpoena power.

We cannot let that happen. But the president's party nearly always loses midterm elections.3 Political scientists consider it "one of the most ironclad rules in politics."4 And the president's party typically loses big—an average of 27 seats.5 Currently, Democrats control the House by the narrowest margin in modern history—just five seats.

To stop Marjorie Taylor Greene and her unhinged, Trump-loving Republican Party from taking over Congress next year, we need to do something big and different. That's why between now and the end of this year, MoveOn is running an intensive series of voter contact experiments to innovate the most effective new strategies for persuading undecided voters and turning out Democratic voters who don't always show up for nonpresidential elections.

However, most people don't even think about making political donations until a few months before an election. In fact, most political donations flood into campaigns in the final weeks and days. So in order for this plan to work, we need to find people who understand the value of investing early in an election cycle, testing new strategies, and who are willing to donate now—and we're hoping that's you.

Will you chip in $8 a month to help research and test the breakout campaign tactics that we'll need to build out MoveOn's 2022 midterm elections campaign to keep the GOP out of power?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Last year, we implemented a new friend-to-friend get-out-the-vote strategy that was proven to be 10 times more effective at reminding people to vote than traditional door-to-door canvassing or phone-banking. Given how wrong the polls were and how close the election turned out to be, the additional voters we helped turn out, especially young voters and voters of color, played a role in stopping Trump from getting re-elected.

But now Republicans are sure to copy that strategy—and so to keep our edge, we need to come up with a new secret weapon. Here's the challenge: If we're going to run enough large-scale tests to provide real evidence of what works, it's going to cost money, and we need to get started now.

The stakes are far too high to sit back and watch Democrats get shellacked in another midterm election the way they did under President Obama in 2010.

Just imagine it. Trump lackey Kevin McCarthy would replace Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the House. Sniper-rifle-toting Greene could end up chairing subcommittees with subpoena power. Republicans would have the power to vacate the results of the 2024 presidential election, no matter who actually wins the election. All of us would feel the impacts, but communities of color and other marginalized groups would bear the brunt of it.

For years, MoveOn has used big data and scientific testing to be on the cutting edge of campaign strategies and tactics. But every time we innovated a new approach, Republicans quickly copied it, forcing us to innovate again to stay ahead.

That's why we need to get started this year testing the tactics and strategies that will give us the edge we need next year to stop Republicans from winning control of Congress.

We know that next year's election seems far away, but it's really not. Thankfully, MoveOn members are smart, strategic people, and we think you'll understand why it's worth starting to give now. What do you think? Will you chip in $8 a month to help make this work possible?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.
