Pamela -- did you catch what President Biden said about the Equality Act in his joint address to Congress? He's urging Congress to pass this essential legislation, which would close gaps in legal protection for marginalized communities, including LGBTQ folks. The Equality Act has already passed the House -- but the real work is ahead of us. In order to get this bill to President Biden's desk, it has to pass the Senate. And that won't happen unless Senators see a groundswell of Americans from all walks of life saying they support the Equality Act. Add your name: Join the Human Rights Campaign and President Biden in urging the Senate to pass the Equality Act. But President Biden didn't stop there in his speech. He also said, "To all the transgender Americans watching at home – especially the young people who are so brave – I want you to know that your president has your back." More than 100 bills attacking trans people have been introduced in state legislatures around the country this year already. And in a year when at least twelve transgender people have already been killed – coming on the heels of 2020, the deadliest year on record for transgender people, especially Black and Brown trans people – every minute that we don't pass the Equality Act is another minute when trans and non-binary lives are at greater risk. But it won't pass unless you join the thousands of Human Rights Campaign supporters in speaking out about the importance of the Equality Act. Will you add your name today to urge the Senate to get this crucial legislation to President Biden's desk? Thanks for fighting alongside us, Human Rights Campaign |
