Pamela, Corporations are NOT people, and money does not equal speech. It's long overdue that we reverse the havoc that Citizens United has wrought on our political system and finally return power to the people. That's why I recently introduced a constitutional amendment to do exactly that. If you're with me in this fight, will you add your name in support of my We the People Amendment today? Since the Supreme Court's flawed Citizens United decision in 2010, our democracy has been left vulnerable to the influence of wealthy billionaires, special interests, and corrupt Super PACs — creating an enormous power imbalance in which large corporations dwarf the average American's ability to influence elected officials. Following the most expensive election in American history — and with a Democratic House, Senate, and White House to work with — we have a real opportunity to put an end to this erosion of our democracy once and for all. And support for ending Citizens United is growing outside of Congress too with widespread dissatisfaction for the outsized influence of big money on our political system. But in order to get this done, I need you on board too, Pamela. With the support of 50 members of Congress on day one, I know we have the momentum to make the We the People Amendment a reality, and your name would be a powerful addition to our urgent fight. Sign your name as a citizen co-sponsor today. In solidarity, Pramila Jayapal Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and U.S. Representative for Washington's 7th congressional district |
