Pamela, Legislators in statehouses across the country are using the same old failed tactics to target transgender and non-binary youth that we've seen time and time again in prior attacks against our community. They're targeting the rights and dignities that every child is entitled to, from penalizing science-based and medically-needed care, to banning transgender athletes from participating in sports, to prohibiting transgender and non-binary people from correcting the gender marker on their identification. We've all been here and seen this before. And this hateful political maneuvering is happening at the same time that transgender people, especially Black and Brown transgender women, are facing an epidemic of violence. We won't stand idly by while this injustice occurs, and we implore you not to either. Will you pledge to join the Human Rights Campaign – the country's largest LGBTQ advocacy organization – in fighting for transgender and non-binary people? Can we count you in? The attacks on transgender and non-binary people don't stop at the Statehouse doors. We see it in the media and pop culture too – from Tucker Carlson to J.K. Rowling, influential figures continue to use their platforms to perpetuate dangerous misinformation and fear. Carlson called the concept of a trans child "grotesque." And Rowling doubled down on her harmful transphobic views and used her platform to spread anti-trans propaganda that is as false as it is shameful. How many transgender and non-binary lives must be taken for people to pay attention? How many hateful bills will anti-trans politicians have to put forward for more folks to say they're sick of it? How much dangerous and stigmatizing rhetoric about transgender people will influential people get away with before it's finally a deal-breaker? When will enough be enough? Enough starts today… with you and your commitment to uplifting and supporting the transgender and non-binary community. Add your name: take the Human Rights Campaign's pledge to get loud, be visible and spread awareness on behalf of transgender and non-binary people. Thank you for fighting alongside us, The Human Rights Campaign |
