Friends -
I am writing to ask if you can make a contribution to three excellent candidates for Congress ahead of tomorrow's FEC fundraising deadline.
As you know, with your help, we won major congressional primary victories in New York last week with candidates like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jamaal Bowman and Mondaire Jones. Further, against overwhelming odds, Charles Booker, a strong progressive, is now leading the establishment Democratic candidate in the U.S. Senate primary in Kentucky while we await the results of the absentee ballots which will be announced Tuesday.
It is clear that our ideas are winning, and that we are having a major impact on American politics. Our movement is taking on the entire political establishment, financial elite, and corporate media, and we are showing that it's possible to bring about transformational change.
Here is the truth:
Our campaign was never simply about winning the White House. It was about building a movement to transform this country and create a government that works for all of us, not just the 1 percent. And we're doing it.
At a time when our country faces a series of crises — a pandemic, an economic collapse, the struggle for racial justice and an end to police brutality and an unstable president — it has never been more critical for us to continue that work.
These three candidates will represent our movement's values in Congress, and right now they are counting on our support before the FEC fundraising deadline ends at midnight tomorrow.
That is why I am asking you directly:
Rashida Tlaib won her primary election in 2018 by just 887 votes, and now she is facing a primary challenge from the same establishment-backed opponent. This could be another very close race, and the primary is just a few weeks away. Rashida is a fearless fighter for working people and is not afraid to stand up to the corporate elite. She stood for us during our campaign for president, and now we must come together to help keep her in Congress.
Dr. Arati Kreibich is a neuroscientist and city council member in New Jersey who is taking on the incumbent Democrat in her congressional district. Arati understands that now is not the time for same-old, same-old establishment ideas. Now is the time for transformational change in this country. With Arati in Congress, we'll have an advocate for issues like Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and college for all.
Beth Doglio is an activist and state representative who has led the fight against climate change in Washington State for nearly three decades. Since joining the state legislature, she passed groundbreaking legislation to empower working people with higher wages and improved protections, and provided more resources to address homelessness. Now she is ready to become a progressive leader in Congress.
Let me be very clear:
If we are serious about building a political revolution — and continuing our fight for Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, a $15 minimum wage, and so much more — we need people like Rashida, Arati, and Beth fighting for our progressive agenda in Congress.
If you can afford to, I hope you'll consider chipping in to their campaigns before tomorrow's FEC deadline.
We must keep the pressure up and continue working to elect progressives all across this country. That is why your contribution is so important. Thank you for adding one today.
In solidarity,
Bernie Sanders
