We wanted to take a moment to tell you why we set a goal of 1 million donations before Sunday's official FEC fundraising deadline.
Bernie doesn't go around the country asking millionaires and billionaires for money. He never has, and never will.
The only way we will win this primary, defeat Donald Trump, and transform our country is from lots of people contributing what they can to build our movement. There are no wealthy campaign contributors or super PACs ready to bankroll our campaign.
We may not hit this ambitious goal. In fact, we are currently pacing a bit behind, so we've set a daily goal of 35,000 to keep us on track. Each donation brings us one step closer to building a winning campaign to defeat Donald Trump and the billionaire class of this country.
Anything this campaign is able to accomplish will come down to what we do together. And the only way we will be able to transform our country is by building an unprecedented grassroots movement never before seen in American politics.
