Trump promised to drain the swamp. Here’s what he actually did:

He's made $2 billion off the presidency.

Ten years ago, Donald Trump promised to drain the swamp, friend.

Here's what he actually did: He's raked in more than $2 billion off the presidency in 18 months, and his family has made over $4 billion. He didn't drain the swamp. He became it.

This isn't one scandal. It's the whole way he governs.

He took a $400 million luxury jet from a foreign government, which is the most expensive gift ever given to an American president. He solicits private cash for a gilded White House ballroom while taxpayers foot the bill. His sons are cashing in on billion-dollar deals from Kazakhstan to the Gulf. And he pulled in more than $1.4 billion from crypto ventures in a single year.

And here's the part that should make you furious: Trump's corruption isn't a victimless crime. He profits and you pay. While his family swims in billions, the same policies enriching them are costing your family an estimated $3,100 more a year. An oil billionaire gave Trump a fortune, and now your electric bill is climbing. Costs are high because corruption is rampant. The two are connected.

Then he tore down the guardrails meant to stop exactly this, gutting the ethics office, firing the special counsel, neutering the FEC, all so no one could hold him accountable.

Democrats have a plan to end it: the Anti-Corruption Bureau Creation Act. It would do two things Americans are crying out for: claw the money back by letting the public and state attorneys general sue to recover what corruption stole, and build a watchdog with real teeth that no president can fire, defund, or weaken. A watchdog that depends on the goodwill of the person it's policing is no watchdog at all.

But a bill only becomes law if we build the pressure to pass it. And 92% of Americans — Republicans, Democrats, and independents alike — already agree that corruption is a problem. This is our chance to do something about it.

Add your name and tell Congress: Crack down on Trump's corruption, and pass the Anti-Corruption Bureau Creation Act.

Thank you,

Chuck Schumer
