Pamela, an effort to cut $3.3 BILLION in military aid to the Israeli government garnered 104 votes in the House last month.
The historic level of support for Rep. Thomas Massie’s amendment would’ve been unthinkable just a few months ago — and it’s only the latest sign that a sea of change is happening in Congress.
But progress isn’t victory, and this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) could codify a status quo of impunity and risk U.S. sovereignty by all but FUSING the U.S. and Israeli militaries.
Here’s where things stand: The House passed its version of the NDAA over unprecedented levels of bipartisan opposition and by a tight four-vote margin. The Senate bill is currently stalled. It’s all opened up a new runway to dig in even deeper to stop a dangerous Pentagon-IDF partnership from becoming a reality as the Senate decides what to do with its own stalled NDAA bill.

A genocide in Gaza. Thousands of bombs dropped on Lebanon. Violence in the West Bank. The Pentagon’s own determination that the Israeli government is a counterintelligence threat — it’s little surprise that the latest Quinnipiac polling found 48% of Americans now believe the U.S. is too supportive of the Israeli government.[1]
It’s the highest level ever recorded.[1] Unfortunately, Pamela, polling isn’t policy. Here’s what Sen. Bernie Sanders had to say:
"Only 16% of Americans support arming Israel without restrictions. So what is Congress doing? Burying a provision in the defense bill that would give Israel more military integration than any NATO ally."[2]
Now, alongside key members like Sen. Sanders and Reps. Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie, Win Without War is working around the clock, exhausting every option possible, to push lawmakers to listen to the people and stop excusing the Israeli government’s violence.
The Senate NDAA has stalled thanks to historic opposition we helped build. With 45 senators maintaining a filibuster on the bill, Senate leadership is facing a crucial choice: promote and improve their bill or give up and take the House-passed bill into conference. That means there’s a narrow window of opportunity to sound the alarm in the media and on Capitol Hill, mobilize our grassroots network to flood congressional offices with opposition, and brief partners, decision-makers, and the press about what is at stake.
We know that weapons lobbyists and war hawks are working fast to keep this provision in. But we’re as laser-focused as ever to create the kind of overwhelming opposition that lawmakers cannot ignore.
